Luzmila Cordova

Her story

Luzmila is a 22 year old indigenous woman, belonging to the Kichwa Otavalo people.  She has 2 children, and was married before she was 15 years old.  She has been making clothes for people and pets, starting when she was 7 years old!  She is currently improving her knowledge in garment design and manufacturing school.  Attending school has allowed her to build upon and improve the knowledge given to her by her parents.  She currently makes these garments with the support of her husband and children.

She thanks her mother for having given her a kilo of sheep's wool with which she started her work when she was still a child.

She would like the international market to give her a chance, as she considers her clothing to meet the standards of quality and competitiveness.
